About the Artwork:

XXIV Festival d’Avignon – Palais des Papes

Experience a powerful piece of art history with this original lithographic poster, created for one of the final major exhibitions during Pablo Picasso’s lifetime. Held in 1970 at the monumental Palais des Papes in Avignon, France, this exhibition remains a cornerstone of Picasso’s late career.

Artistic Provenance & Heritage

The Master Printers: This exquisite piece was printed at the legendary Atelier Mourlot in Paris, the world’s most famous lithography studio.

The Collaboration:

Produced under the direct supervision of Picasso’s most trusted master lithographer, Henri Deschamps, ensuring the highest level of color accuracy and artistic integrity.

The Subject:

The artwork features Picasso’s 1969 oil masterpiece "Homme à l’épée" (Man with a Sword), also known as The Corsair. It is a fierce, energetic depiction reflecting the artist’s undiminished passion at the age of 88.

Vintage Authenticity & Condition

Authentic Patina:

As an original print from 1970, this piece displays subtle "foxing" (small age spots). Far from being a flaw, these delicate marks are a guarantee of authenticity, proving the paper’s 50-year history and its genuine vintage origin.

Paper & Technique:

High-quality color lithography on heavy art paper, preserving the vibrant strokes and depth of the original painting.

Expert Framing

This lithograph is presented in a stunning, bold red frame with a deep black mat (passe-partout). Red was Picasso’s signature color—a symbol of Spanish temperament and passion—making this a magnificent "statement piece" ready to dominate any sophisticated interior.
