Twenty-One Drawings from the Late Years
This portfolio contains twenty-one high-quality facsimile prints after original drawings by Käthe Kollwitz, one of the most important German artists of the 20th century.

The drawings reproduced in this portfolio were created mainly between the 1920s and 1940s, during the late period of Kollwitz’s artistic life. The works focus on deeply human themes such as motherhood, grief, loss, war, suffering, and compassion, which are central to her legacy.

This edition was published in 1948 in Berlin by Gebr. Mann Verlag, shortly after World War II, under license of the American Military Government.

The publication therefore represents an important historical and cultural document of post-war Germany.

The introduction was written by Carl Georg Heise, a respected German art historian and museum director. The selection of the drawings was made with the collaboration of Dr. Hans Kollwitz, the artist’s son.

The prints are fine facsimile reproductions, produced using traditional high-quality printing techniques of the time, intended for collectors, institutions, and serious admirers of Kollwitz’s work.
