About the Artwork:

The Nu Bleu series (Blue Nudes I–IV) comprises some of Henri Matisse's most iconic images, all created in 1952 using his revolutionary late-life technique he called "drawing with scissors" (dessin aux ciseaux). This method involved cutting figures and shapes directly from large sheets of paper previously painted with vibrant gouache paints, allowing the artist to unify line, colour, and form in a uniquely direct way.

The works offered are high-quality silk screen print (serigraph) reproductions of these original cut-outs. Serigraphy is a stencil-based printing process where ink is forced through a fine mesh screen onto the paper below. This method captures the vibrant saturation and flat colours characteristic of Matisse's cut-outs.

Edition Details:

These prints were published by Nouvelles Images (Printed in France) with copyright dates typically around the mid-1990s by the Succession Henri Matisse. They are printed on substantial Arches vellum 100% rag paper (250 g), ensuring high material quality.
Prints in this series feature a printed signature (part of the image/print, not hand-signed) and are not individually numbered. They fall into the category of authorized, mass-produced art prints or posters, valued for their aesthetic quality and as faithful reproductions of iconic modern masterpieces.
