Collection: Shaul Kosman

Shaul Kosman (b. 1959) is a distinguished Israeli contemporary artist whose work represents a fascinating dialogue between visual art, musical improvisation, and architectural structure. Originally from Kaunas, Lithuania, Kosman grew up immersed in classical European culture, which instilled in him a profound appreciation for historic aesthetics and the soul of the "Old World."

Education and Artistic Evolution
Kosman honed his talent at the prestigious Vilnius Academy of Arts, earning his Master of Arts (MA) in 1983. He is often described as an artist of three faces: musician, architect, and painter. This trinity defines his signature style—his paintings are not merely static scenes but rhythmic compositions that "play" with color and light.

Capturing the Modern Pulse
A pivotal moment in his life was his move to Israel in 1997. Settling in the coastal city of Ashdod, his love for classical forms transformed into a fascination with the vibrant energy of the modern metropolis. His works frequently capture Parisian boulevards, rain-slicked city streets, and soulful jazz clubs, radiating both a warm nostalgia and an adventurous urban spirit.

Technique: Beyond the Traditional Brush
Kosman is renowned for his innovative approach to texture and medium. He masterfully combines acrylic and oil, building volume not only with brushes but also with unconventional tools such as spoons and kitchen utensils. This results in a rich, nearly three-dimensional surface (impasto) that invites the viewer to almost feel the vibration of the canvas.

International Recognition and Collections
Shaul Kosman is a regular participant in major global art forums:

Art Expo New York (multiple appearances since 2005)
Art Expo Toronto
Israel Expo London
Major exhibitions in Chicago, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem.

His artworks are held in significant private collections throughout Canada, the USA, and Israel. Owning a Kosman piece is more than a decorative choice; it is an investment in a modern impressionist vision that brings the rhythmic heart of the city into any interior.
